Become more confident in your self-presentation; you’re now able to quickly calm nerves or fear.
People can be quite nasty at assessment centres, especially in group exercises. It’s dog eat dog there and people will constantly talk over you just to get one up on everyone. If you stay quiet, yes you will fail, that’s why it’s best to take a lead in these sort of exercises.
I’ve only done one assessment centre in my life and I failed that as well, but I’m on a PhD programme now so I will live in a university for the rest of my life, haha.
TheMightyHarihar That’s what puts me off from applying to graduate schemes but it’s still good to learn about them.
I do still recommend you apply to graduate schemes, you may get lucky. Usually graduate schemes last for 2-3 years and they put you on rotation, so you work in all the departments of your field. It’s a good sort of paid work experience.
If you end up going down the PhD route, your age can quickly catch up to you and you may feel stupid applying for a grad scheme at 26/27. That’s why a lot of PhD’s do stay in academia, rather than go into the corporate world. Though there are places that hire PhD’s, but you need to show work experience as well.
TheMightyHarihar how to take the lead cod u shed some light on it plz ?thx
+Ben Sharp do you have any interview tips for me mate
This will be helpful to me if I go to an assessment centre. To be honest I really hate them but I’m glad you got a job through one.
Ah I agree, they are pretty stressful/nerve-wracking tbf! good luck if/when you go to one!!
Thank you!
Thanks for this, just passed my assessment centre for IBM 🙂
Tell me how please!! Have IBM in three days!!!
any tips ??
@@vietcongpornsurfers How did it go?

gosh I envy u so much I rlly want to get in pwc
Just what I needed to hear before the assessment centre, thank you so much
Thank you so, so much for this video!! I followed your advice about faking confidence until I felt confident and stuff and I got the job!!! I’ve been unemployed for years, I can’t believe I finally have a job. 🙂 Near the end, the guy was going around and pulling people out and then they’d come back and get their stuff and leave and I so fucking expected him to tap me on the shoulder omg, I was so shocked when he went back to the front and told the rest of us that we’d been successful. I’m so happy. This video helped a ton honestly. 🙂
Congratulations! That’s so great and I’m so happy for you 🙂
There was no need to swear on this.

Thank you for sharing your experience!
I passed my assessment centre. It was to be a probation officer. Thanks for your video, I watched it before I went 🙂
Okey Dokey Lokey congratulations!! how did it go/what were you asked to do?
how was it like? what did u have to do?
Really good points and great advice. In one assessment I spoke too soon and in trying to show initiative and a functioning brain I took charge and suggested the most ideas but also listened to everyone and asked others for suggestions. However the damage was done and it was my downfall. Listen to others first and speak up after. If everyone is silent then calmly suggest an idea. The thing is also that I was overqualified for the job. Not to sound arrogant but sometimes u can’t fake wanting a job unless ur a really good actor and know exactly what they’re looking for.
Either way what happened was great for me because now I have a much better opportunity and closer to home. I hope this time I nail it. Stay confident but respectful, proactive but friendly, organised and focused and you’ll be absolutely fine. Wish me luck.
I was so bad at assessment centres and never got the job. I’m now an experienced hire and working for the big companies I never thought I’d work for. So for those who never got the grad jobs, dont lose hope!
How did u get ur job instead? Any advice…?
why are you watching this video then..very sus
I hate it when the the hiring managers make you do discussions when they say that your a survivor of a plane crash or a shipwreck and you and your team needs to decide what to take with you to survive…. And this job involves working for a mortgage and financial company so what does plane crashes and shipwrecks got to do with mortgages and insurance?
Decision-making, communicating with others, prioritising, creativity… list goes on mate
“Fake it till you make it”😂😂😂 I just love it. I am very confident but when it comes to job interviews I am extremely shy.
I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY I FOUND THIS CHANNEL !!! honestly, for someone who has just finished university and is looking for advice and tips, she gives amazing advice! I hope you keep the videos coming and stay consistent, I got my notifications on. You go girl I am rooting for you sis !!!
Thank you so much, you are so kind and generous for sharing your experience. Thanks for sharing this.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I FOLLOWED YOUR TIPS AND PASSED THE ASSESSMENT CENTRE AND GOT THE JOB 😭😭😭 I HAVE BEEN JOBLESS FOR MORE THAN ONE YEAR. I’M GLAD I WATCHED YOUR VIDEO BEFORE THE ASSESSMENT CENTRE 😭😭😭😭
Were you unsuccessful in the grad schemes while in third year then did them again after graduating then succeeded then? I’m currently in that position 😭 I’ve lost hope on grad schemes tbh 😩 congrats on landing the job btw!
@@DonFriend497 I used to be really poor at applying for grad jobs but I got a bit of work experience and am applying for grad jobs 6 years later, and now I have an understanding of what employers want and the tests seem much easier to me, I have a few ACs lined up. Don’t give up. Look on youtube, career vidz has good info on interview techniques, practice free numerical reasoning. Go through your CV and think about what youve done for answers to competency based questions (doing more jobs even the lowest paid jobs will give you competency examples). Look on YT for strength based answers and walk throughs on situational judgement tests. Look for information on logic tests and video interviews then keep practicing. Make sure that you can say why you want the job and study each company like you would for a test. It sound like a lot but we have time
You’re already doing the right thing by watching this video. Good luck
How did you get materials for the verbal and Numerical tests.
@@DonFriend497 Yes flunked scheme applications in my 3rd year. Then got a bog standard job for a few years, reapplied without much effort and started passing schemes so then I started putting the effort in and will start my scheme later on in the year. I think that having life and work experience somehow helps. Maybe because you get a better idea as to what employers are looking for. Honestly spend the summer working whatever job you can find and every week spend an hour practicing your situational judgement tests, numerical reasoning tests (practice being fast using calculator functions), verbal reasoning, understanding competencies, video interviews and apply to as many schemes as you can, from October. There are lots of free tests online. Prospects.ac.uk, milkround, nhs and government are great places to look.
Alternatively there are lots of kickstart schemes this year. You should apply for these as ive seen some amazing opportunities to get into great industries. It will be valuable even if you ultimately leave to change industries or get on a graduate scheme.
@@geekafreak hey how many years after graduation is too late to apply for grad schemes? This is my first year applying but i heard some schemes dont allow you to apply 2 years after graduation
Her: Don’t be disheartened if you dont get the job, there are so many jobs out there.
**Covid 19 comes**
Me: okay 🙁
Literally the accuracy on your comment is crazy 🙁
It’s been so hard, I feel you
@@looksbyhan873 trust me I watched this video for an assessment centre I had and I got rejected and I felt so bad that until now I have been so demotivated to apply for more jobs. It took me so long to get to the assessment centre stage and I felt like I wasted my time and it hurts a lot 🙁
@@TaehyungKim-ng3yc awww I completely understand what you mean :/
I’m sorry that it made you lose motivation..
Hopefully things will get better soon, and there will be more jobs out there !
I promised myself I’d come back to this video whether I got the job or not. This was the last video I watched before I went to sleep the day before my assessment centre. I was so nervous and watched a lot of videos but nothing could calm me down. When I watched this, I immediately felt like everything would be ok. Three days later I was invited to the final interview and yesterday I finally signed the offer. Thank you so much! <3
I know im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@@crosbymalcolm7305 Why do I see this question everywhere I go?
I have an assessment centre soon and this is hands down the best video I’ve seen on YouTube about ACs. Very practical approach and very nice of you to allow people learn from your experiences. Can’t wait!
I got my job at a big german chemical giant thanks to your tips. Thank you so much!!
Watched this a day before my assessment centre, and I GOT THE JOB! Thank you so so much for this. It was my first assesment centre and I knew everything I had to do because of this video only. I cant thank you enough! God bless❤️
